Increase your knowledge
Have you ever been in a crowd of strangers that appear to be more knowledgeable than you? I have. I think we have all been in this or a similar situation at least once in our life. How can we allow ourselves to become more diverse and expand our communication skills? By increasing your knowledge, you are allowing yourself more freedom and a better ability to communicate with others.
Just a few ideas:
- Read new books something that is not typical of you. Don’t like to read or have time to read. Get an audio book and listen while you drive, do household chores, etc. Going to an event and know everyone will be reading a certain book – why not pick it up and give it a read.
- Commit to meeting someone new and interesting once a week or even once a month. Offer to take them out for a cup of coffee / lunch sometime. Ask questions and really listen. Learn from them.
- Get a hobby / a new hobby. New hobbies can foster new creativity and give you something more to converse about.
These are just 3 quick tips to help you get started. I would love to hear your ideas on how to expand your communication skills.
