EYE ON IT
Current Industry Trends: Sales Tax
Does your business pay internet sales tax? Well you might want to read this because they might have to not only pay in state sales tax, but they may also have to pay nationwide sales tax. According to this article by Anita Campbell on SmallBizTrends.com the proposed Marketplace Fairness Act is currently working its way through the ranks of Congress. Read her article and then at the very end there is a link to contact your Senators to let them know how this act will impact your business.
Software Pick: OneNote
I have always loved OneNote, but this past month I have started sharing OneNote with a client and I am even more in love with it now than before. OneNote in its simplest form is a note taking software application, but it is more sophisticated than just a simple note taking app. With OneNote you can not only take your notes, but you can create folders, pages, sub-pages, cut & paste quickly from the net and it even automatically adds the link from the location where you cut & pasted from the net. There is simply not enough space here to tell you all about OneNote, but it is a must have for any small business. I love it and use it every day for client meetings, project collaboration, quick notes, ideas/thoughts, business/personal, to do lists, live working documents, it syncs with my iPad and computer and so much more. Check out OneNote today if you are not already using it. For file sharing you will need a Windows live ID and set it up in SkyDrive (both are currently free). If you are a Microsoft User there is a chance you might already have OneNote , but if not it is sold as a stand-alone product .
