It’s pretty much common knowledge that virtual assistants are becoming more popular than ever before. When I first started off as a virtual assistant not to many people knew what one was, but now they are so popular that you can find them virtually anywhere. And the truth is you can even get them cheap, cheap, cheap, but is that always what’s best for you and your business?
I ran across this article recently called, “I Outsourced All My Most Mundane Personal Tasks to India – It was a disaster” and I wanted to share it with you because I frequently encounter comments like that’s $35 / $50 / $70 per hour or whatever it breaks down to for a particular project. Not just from my clients or potential clients, but other virtual assistants often tell me they encounter this as well. And I often see articles that tell you how to get a cheap virtual assistant.
One of the things we at Rhonda’s Virtual Office do is we only work with United States clients and United States virtual assistants in order to serve our clients’ needs at a higher level. Our team is highly trained and qualified to work in their niches. We do have a couple of intern’s that work with us, but when it comes to your specialty work that requires a professional with experience to complete a task we put the best woman for the job on it.

Also, something that I noticed mentioned in this article and I have read in other articles is the babysitting or spying on your team. This is not what we do. We are not babysitters and we don’t work with children. We work with professionals. We work with independent contractors that know what they are doing. If you feel you need to micromanage and babysit your team then you have a problem. A leader leads and does not babysit, handhold, and micromanage everything. If you want to have a good team, that is loyal, trustworthy, and will work hard for you then you must treat them with respect and treat them as the professional they are.
I think money is only part of the problem here and perhaps not even really the problem at all in many cases. In many cases it’s about trust.
For those of you that it is truly about money you need to decide are you losing money doing those tasks yourself because you are not doing the most important thing you should be doing and that is being the face of your business. Reaching out to your clients or leads and opening and keep open those marketing funnels so you can keep money coming in.

So, anyway this article addresses this man’s experience with outsourcing not only to India but also to some US based companies, but because of not being willing or able to spend a few extra dollars to make it worth his wile he ended up having bad experiences across the board. The article is a 2 page long story of his experience, but it is worth the read and it is not the only story I’ve heard or read of this nature. Ladies and gentlemen … sometimes paying for the services you want and NEED is worth it.
