October has just been a beautiful month overall. Yes, we’ve had a few cold and rainy days, but all in all it’s been really nice weather for fall which made the fall festival’s and pumpkin fests more enjoyable. Of course, it had to go and get cold and rainy on Halloween and my babies went out together and froze themselves to death. Anything for that candy … 🙂
I attended the 2014 ATHENA Awards event recognizing women leaders, where Sheree Paolello, from WLWT News 5 was the Emcee and Lucreta Bowman of Having the Courage to Change was the keynote speaker. Each of the finalist worked so very hard and earned their nominations. Of them were – Gillian Ahlgren of Xavier University, Janaya Trotter Bratton of Trotter Law LLC, Angela Carl of Planning for Success, Carol Griffith-Dockum of Oxford Chamber of Commerce, Carla Eng of Abstract Displays Inc., Michelle Graves of Sheology Organics USA, Julie Hagen of Barnes Dennig, Lisa Kaminski of Ingage Partners, Jill McCruder of IFS Financial Services, Robin Throckmorton of Strategic HR, Inc., and Terry Yoho of Flagel Huber Flagel.
I know it was a really tough pick for the committee this year to choose the winner of the ATHENA award, but I think they chose a fine lady, Michelle Graves, as the award recipient. Michelle is a member of my eWomen Network group and was nominated by our Marketing Director, Amy Ostigny. Michelle is the founder and CEO of Sheology Organics USA, writing a book called Choices, and dedicated to helping single mother’s learn to cope with their financial realities.
Congratulations Michelle! You deserve it!
This past month was a great month, and I had some crazy busy times. Right before the ATHENA awards I had several women business owners contact me to get their marketing materials designed and printed before the event. I even had one call the day before and I was able to pull that together as well. I designed the items requested, sent to my printer, picked them up, and delivered them right to the event the day of the event.
Designed this flyer in just a couple of hours, had over 200 printed, and delivered on time for the event.
We redesigned a client website, formatted a contract for a lawyer, as well as other WordPress maintenance work and I’ve lost track of how many business cards we’ve entered into databases this month.
I’ve designed a new portfolio on my website if you haven’t seen it yet I would love for you to check it out here.
As you all know and I somehow missed the boat in last month’s newsletter, that October was Women’s Small Business Month. I want to take this time, even though late for Women’s Small Business Month, it’s never too late to recognize someone and say thank you …
I want to personally recognize and thank some very special ladies that helped my business succeed. Without them and their support I wouldn’t be where I am today.
My team: Dixie, LeShante, Tracey, Kerry, and Anita. Everyone needs a great team to succeed and these ladies each have their own small businesses supporting other small business just as I do and have been vital to my success.
My health and wellness coach: Geri Sue Sandor, formerly of Wellness Connections and now Connect to Calm, without her I’d still be struggling against many personal, emotional, health, etc. issues. Geri Sue has helped me to come out of my box, get back into life and start living again, get healthier, and more. I cannot say enough thank you’s for all the love, compassion, guidance, accountability, and support she gave me. If you need someone to help you navigate the stress in your life and create calm then I’d highly suggest connecting to Geri Sue by email here and be sure to tell her Rhonda sent you.
Amy Ostigny of eWomen Network, Amy Ostigny, and The Strategic Connectors. She connected me with eWomen Network, helped me to create such awesome new relationships with other business women who are just amazing, and grow my business in a phenomenal way. Ladies if you don’t belong to eWomen Network or know Amy Ostigny then email her here and tell her Rhonda sent you. She’s simply amazing!
