Gone Are the Days of the Secretary!

Gone are the days of the Secretary! This role has evolved into an Administrative Assistant, and that role is increasingly being replaced by the VA (Virtual Assistant).

Secretaries played a part in the office offering basic office skills such as typing, dictation, filing, and even getting coffee for the boss. The Secretary role evolved into Administrative Assistant as computers and new technologies became more prevalent in the workforce. Now the Virtual Assistant is becoming more prevalent along with new and improved computers and with the increased use of the internet.

It is necessary that computers and the use of online tools is now needed for any business small, medium, or large. When the economy took a hit more businesses began letting go of their Administrative Assistants, and realizing they still had a need for the use of an Administrative Assistant they began turning to the Virtual Assistant.

The Virtual Assistant is the perfect solution to cut costs and still get professional and quality services. How does it assist you with cutting costs? By allowing you to save money on overhead expenses, insurance, 401k’s, taxes, workers compensation, etc.

However, the Virtual Assistant can suffer from the Client not understanding their rates. The fact is many Virtual Assistant’s typically charge $30 and up an hour. The Virtual Assistant is a business owner, and must charge an appropriate rate to match the services they provide just like any other business owner does. The Virtual Assistant is making a living from their business, and even at $30 plus an hour you will still save money by the time you add up the costs of having an in-house assistant. And you still get professional and quality services.

Rhonda is the CEO of Rhonda’s Virtual Office, a virtual assistant, Christian mom of two really great kids and an animal lover. She enjoys a cup of coffee in the mornings before the rest of the world wakes up and then it’s the start of a busy day. Getting the little one ready for school and then starting her work day.
